Managing Director - Tax

The FACT Division within E78 offers four different services to our clients:

• Outsourced CFO
• Outsourced Compliance
• Fund Administration
• Tax and Advisory Services

The FACT division provides employees with full exposure to the Alternative Investment Industry with client support covering the full spectrum of Investment vehicles, including Hedge, Private Equity, Private Credit and Venture Capital Funds. E78 Partners provides comprehensive solutions that span the Fund investment life cycle - from initial Operational, Accounting and Compliance set up, ongoing middle and back-office operations, CFO, Fund Administration, Compliance and Tax and Advisory services. Employees will support and be exposure to a wide range of Fund structures and strategies. Currently, E78 FACT provides services to over 400 funds and managed accounts aggregating over $60 Billion in AUM.

Job Description

We are looking for a Managing Director to work within our tax advisory practice. You will be responsible for leading and preparing taxes for tax high-net-worth individuals, family office, and private trust clients, including tax due diligence, and gift tax.

• Review and preparation of federal and state income tax returns for individuals, trusts, corporations, partnerships and exempt organizations
• Maintain client relationships and demonstrate knowledge of clients' business
• Prepare tax and financial documents for multiple clients, budgets and production goals
• Identify and assist with implementation of tax planning and consulting opportunities
• Work with Tax Managers for correspondence to IRS and other tax authorities

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; Master's degree or CPA preferred
• 12+ years of progressive tax preparation experience within a public accounting firm and a proven track record of client delivery achievement, and team management.
• Extensive experience in tax preparation for high-net-worth individuals, family office, and private trust clients, including tax due diligence, gift tax, and tax compliance.
• Strong technical skills and ability to research and resolve complex tax issues, both domestic and international (specifically the Cayman Islands)
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues from different cultures and backgrounds
• Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities in the global market
• Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse and talented team
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Ability to work on a hybrid basis in our downtown Chicago, IL office 3-4 days a week
• Willingness to travel as needed (less than 5-10%)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex and large data sets.
• Proficient in financial modeling, valuation, and accounting principles and methodologies.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and team members at all levels.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with financial software, such as Power BI and Adaptive is a plus.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented and the ability to work independently and under pressure.

Compensation:

The base salary range is $250,000 - $350,000, plus bonus and will be based on experience.
